Naitram S. Birla
The Handprint Gallery was named in honor of
Ghanshyam Singh Birla’s paternal grandfather, Naitram S. Birla, who introduced Ghanshyam to palmistry, astrology and the healing arts. When he was twelve years old living in the North of India, Ghanshyam remembers assisting his grandfather who was distributing Ayurvedic herbs to villagers seeking his advice and healing. The family astrologer had predicted that Ghanshyam would follow the path of his grandfather and one day revolutionize the science of Vedic Palmistry. From that time on, Ghanshyam was personally groomed by his grandfather to succeed him.
Gallery Inauguration
In September 1992, the Naitram S. Birla Handprint Gallery opened as part of the 'Canada 125' National Celebrations, receiving an award from the Governor-General of Canada. The Handprint Gallery, reproduced here in its entirety, features the hands of famous and infamous Canadians and
international personalities, a sampling of the 70,000 handprints the Center has on file. The gallery also includes a Walk of Fame display with the prints of many of Québec's leading stars.
